Each assignment is different—be sure to check the directions carefully on the Class Website! Please don’t bother with the Connexus version. We have alternatives that are, to be honest, a lot easier and more fun than writing an essay.
DO NOT SKIP THESE ASSIGNMENTS THEY ARE WORTH 70% OF YOUR OVERALL GRADE
There will be a Livelesson during office hours where we go over expectations for the assignments and provide additional resources that will be helpful to you.
IEP/504/EL If you have an IEP, 504, or are identified as an EL, there are alternative assessments available. Please contact me if you would like those options. Assessment Policies Assessments are extremely important to a student's success and understanding of the material at Connections Academy. Therefore the Assessment policies below have been created to ensure all students complete them to the best of their ability. Blank Documents • Students should no longer submit blank documents to the dropbox. Assessment Extension Request If, for any reason, you are not yet ready to submit your World History Portfolio please follow the steps below:
Open the attached document entitled World History Assessment Extension Request
Fill it out, save it and then upload it to the Dropbox for the Assessment
As you continue through your lessons you should work on the Assessment assignment
Once you submit the Extension Request I will put in a zero for the assignment. Once you submit the assignment via webmail I will update your score.
You must also include a date you intend on resubmitting your Assessment
P.S. Remember to turn in the actual Assessment! Stuck on Assessment
If, after one weeks past due, a student does not complete an assessment or submit a Assessment Extension Request Ms. Eyestone will assign a temporary 0 to the portfolio.
If, after another week, the student has not completed the assignment Ms. Eyestone will put in a 0 so the student can move forward in lessons. The student can still submit the assignment via webmail.
Ms Eyestone will then try to reach the student by phone.
Check My Work All Assessments MUST have a link to Check My Work on it or the actual report. Check My Work helps you double check you have everything written in your own words. You can run it through as many times as you want before you turn it into me. Here is a short video tutorial that will help you learn how to use this resource. To access Check My Work go to your homepage. From there click on "Links." At the top you will see "Check My Work." Click on it and then select the class you are uploading the paper for. Browse your computer and upload your assessment as if you were uploading it to the dropbox. After a moment you will be given a link. You can include the link onto your paper. You can also see the results of your report by clicking on the link. Note: It's okay to have 15-20% of your paper listed as "similar." It tends to happen when you quote from the book or sources. APA and MLA Citation Guides Various styles are used to write and format research papers, and cite sources. The most common styles you will encounter as a student are the Modern Language Association (MLA) style and American Psychological Association (APA) style. Although these two styles are similar, you will need to understand the differences as well as when to use each one. When writing for social studies courses, you will use APA style. However you may also use MLA. APA Resources

Saving Your Paper Please remember to save your files with your name, course, and assignment in the filename. For example: Smith_Jenny_WorldHistory_U5L6.docx Retain a copy in case you want to revise your work for a better score later. Assessment Revisions I give feedback on all assessments you submit. Even if it takes me a while to get to them! I want to give you the opportunity to raise your grade and learn something in the process, so I am letting you make corrections for FULL CREDIT on each portfolio based on my feedback. However, you may only make ONE revision per assessment! That means you have to incorporate ALL of my feedback at once to get the most points possible. If you aren't sure what my feedback means, ASK ME! Let me know if you have any questions
